5 things every trades website needs

5 things every trades website needs

Most people looking for a roofer, electrician or builder are on their phone, mid-problem, and ready to call the first business that looks capable and trustworthy. A trades website has one job: turn that visitor into a quote request before they bounce to a competitor.

Five things do most of that heavy lifting.

1. Click-to-call, everywhere

On a phone, your number should be one tap away on every screen — a sticky call button, not something buried on a contact page. Most trades enquiries are phone calls, so make calling effortless.

2. Real photos of your work

Stock images fool no one. Before-and-after photos of actual jobs prove you can do the work and quietly justify your price. They’re the single most persuasive thing on a trades site.

3. A dead-simple quote request

A short form — name, number, what they need, maybe a photo — captures the people who won’t call. The fewer fields, the more you’ll get. Every extra box loses you leads.

Someone with a leaking roof isn’t reading your ‘about’ page — they’re looking for a reason to call you right now.

4. Service-area pages

Pages for each town you cover help you show up when someone searches “roofer in [town]”. They tell both Google and the customer that you actually work where they are.

5. Trust signals up front

Reviews, guarantees, insurance, accreditations and years in business reassure a nervous first-timer. Put them near your call-to-action, where the decision actually happens.

The trades checklist

Add a tap-to-call button that follows the screen on mobile.
Swap stock photos for real before-and-after job shots.
Cut your quote form down to the fewest possible fields.
Put reviews and guarantees right beside your main call-to-action.

You don’t need a huge site — you need the few things that turn urgency into a phone call. Get these five right and a modest trades website will out-earn a flashy one that ignores them.
